RALPH STANLEY - A BLUEGRASS HERO
Born in 1927
McClure Virginia Town
He was shy but love to sing songs
A music Pioneer he was
It was only for a moment
He was born and now he's gone
A legend played his banjo
The Bluegrass King is gone
A BLUE GRASS HERO
Ralph Stanley was his name
And he left us with good memories
Pay tribute to his name
He served the US Army
A proud man yes he was
He loved his friends and family
An honest man who cared
In 1946 he started
The Clinch Mountain Boys began
He played claw-hammer banjo
And his brother Carter sang
A BLUE GRASS HERO
Ralph Stanley was his name
And he left us with good memories
Pay tribute to his name
He died on Thursday evening
Dr. Ralph Stanley is gone
At 89 he left the grandson
Nathan Stanley carries on
Rest in peace Coeburn Virginia
He had a loving wife named Jimmi
And Lisa, Ralph and Tanya
Was his family that he loved
A member of the Grand Ole Opry
The Bluegrass Hall of Fame
Let's bow our heads in memory
To the Tennessean man
A BLUE GRASS HERO
Ralph Stanley was his name
And he left us with good memories
Pay tribute to his name
